Overview

This permit is intended to allow enforcement personnel to verify compliance with the law and to allow the carrier to travel in New York State for 3 days. This permit relieves the carrier from filing returns and the fee covers any fuel use tax due. This is used instead of getting an IFTA license and decals or getting the Highway Use Tax permit and filing fuel use tax returns. A carrier may fulfill its fuel use tax obligations by getting trip permits for each jurisdiction traveled.
