Overview

Workers' Compensation Law requires that all businesses, including out-of-state businesses, applying for permits, licenses or contracts with municipal and state entities have appropriate workers' compensation and disability and paid family leave benefits coverage. To comply with coverage provisions, a business must: be legally exempt from the requirement; obtain New York State coverage from an insurance carrier; be a New York State Workers' Compensation Board approved self-insured employer; or participate in an authorized New York State group self-insurance plan.
